What We Can Learn From Atlantis and Lemuria

Haiti — The Atlantis Connection

By Stephen Thomson

Like most of us, I have speculated about the true location of Atlantis. Over the years, my mind started to drift in the direction of the Islands like Haiti, as being some remaining part of the land mass of Atlantis. This seemed logical to me, just as much as the suggestion of the Ring of Fire Islands of the Pacific being the last vestiges of Lemuria. During the twenty plus years I lived in Metro-New York, I had the honor to meet a large number of Haitian people who emigrated from their homeland for a better life in the United States. I witnessed through their lives what people are willing to do to create a better life for themselves and families. Proud of their heritage and tradition, they are a hard-working, family and community oriented people. Yet, the greatest gift from the Haitian people I met, was their willingness to share the soul-based spiritual knowledge and dedication to their beliefs. The Haitian people have a strong sense of the importance of their spiritual traditions and "walk their talk."

When I began to meet people from Haiti and started to learn of their spiritual traditions, my supposition about a Haiti connection to Atlantis seemed to be strengthened. There seemed to be a deep and ancient knowledge of God and the Universe that was innate — genetically based, in the Haitian people. Many of these new friends became very important teachers for me. Since I made "promises" about the information that was given to me, I can't share in detail what I learned. What I can reveal is that over the years, I was told about many instances of "advanced spiritual adepts" from around the world traveling to Haiti to conduct certain ceremonies and rituals, which could only be performed on that Island. All of the Haitian people I met seemed to know about this type of spiritual activity going on in their country and that this was a part of the traditional ways of the people and their land. For the people of Haiti, even with the hard living conditions of the Country, they never abandoned their spiritual traditions or beliefs. I continue to believe that there are great spiritual treasures in Haiti, and of the Atlantian connection.

The dichotomy seen in the life of the people of Haiti also serves as a clear example of the dual nature of our world. On one hand, a deep rooted sense of God, in contrast with abject poverty and the needs of the majority of peoples going unattended. This brings to mind the documented experiences about places like Mount Shasta, and for me in Sedona, where that which exists on another frequency is right in front of us, yet beyond the range of physical sight. We enter into time and space based upon our own ability to "see" and believe. We see what we can believe.

Atlantis, Haiti and Our World Today

Spiritual and world history holds one common thread as being the cause for the fall of every great civilization. That is the affect of technology in the current age, and its impact on all of humankind. In the early history of our world, technological advancements were directed at the mechanical processes of life. Think of the plow as an example. These types of tools made it possible for more work to be accomplished in less time. With this came the production of more goods and the beginning accumulation of wealth. With money comes a lot of human desires, including the desire for power. We know where this leads. Now we find the advancements in technology being directed at the intellectual, rather than material aspects of life. In many instances, something or someone else is doing a lot of thinking for us. The impact on us and in our lives and world is something that is becoming a major concern.

We live in an incredible age when technological advancements have become an integral part of everyday life. We find ourselves with more things to help us make it through the day, which are beyond the range of our individual creative ability. All we have to do is think of the impact of computers and the Internet in our lives, for example. Furthermore, the technological advances of our day have created more time for leisure pursuits, than any other time in recorded history. In this way, each of us has access to tools created by others, which save an incredible amount of time and energy.

The impact of this shift is profound in a positive and negative way. On one hand, we are able to communicate and access information in ways we have never done before. Our world has become smaller, as humankind continues advancing to a One World status. Yet the opposite effect is perhaps even more dramatic and with a far reaching impact. We have become a world where the individual is becoming less and less important, as technology takes the place of the human factor. Think of corporations who no longer hold a high level of concern for the long-range well-being of their employees, for example. Lemuria, Atlantis, The Roman Empire and possibly the United States today, stand as examples of advanced societies that are dramatically impacted by technology of the time. Whenever the Empire begins to lose sight of its people — the human factor, and materialism outweighs spiritualism, things start to crumble.

I live in San Diego now and in the Sunday newspaper last weekend was an article about Haiti. The people are holding their leaders responsible for the tragic event last month. They feel their leaders have lost sight of spirituality and the problems they are facing have been caused by this change in their country.

When the human spiritual factor is overlooked and replaced with a material objective or reward, we are truly going in the wrong direction as the race of people currently occupying the planet. In the coming years, we are going to continue to see the impact of technology on the socio-economic fronts, as the divide between the rich and poor becomes even more exaggerated. We have lost sight of the human factor in our world and it is only going to become more pronounced. In as many ways that technology has created unity among the people of our planet, it has not created a way for us to evolve in a balanced and harmonious way.

Haiti stands as another wake-up call for all of us to step forward and work with the gifts we have developed on behalf of all of humankind.
